About the Airport

Planning for growth

Planning for the long-term sustainable future of Melbourne Airport and its surrounds is a complex process. The overall aim is to carefully manage the growth of Victoria's major air transport hub, whilst ensuring our neighbours needs are carefully considered and our environmental impact is minimal.

Melbourne Airport's plans and future developments, as with all major Australian airports, are subject to scrutiny from the

Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure.

Melbourne Airport Master Plan & Environment Strategy

The Melbourne Airport Master Plan and the Melbourne Airport Environment Strategy are two important documents that shape the future for Melbourne Airport. Each document is updated every five years.

The Melbourne Airport Master Plan outlines our vision for Melbourne Airport's medium and long-term future. It includes plans for future runways, terminals, transport access and other key airport developments.

The Melbourne Airport Environment Strategy outlines our commitments to the environment at Melbourne Airport, including targets for the next five years and beyond.
